London/Dover (Days 1, 12)

Restless, enduring and wonderful, London is Europe's largest city. And surely, if you have the choice to visit only two or three cities of the world in your lifetime, by all means make one of them London. The Romans started it all. The city they developed was "the square mile," - and Londoners still hunt for Roman relics in the Thames. History is everywhere you look in London, yet today the city is as modern and metropolitan as any city on earth. By day, London is buzzing with the frenetic pace of commerce not even Dickens could have imagined. By night, the excitement and glitter of theatres, cinemas, pubs and restaurants beckons throngs of travellers from around the world. But there is another London, a peaceful London of cool museums, quiet tea rooms, immaculate gardens and hushed churches. There is Royal London - ancient pageantry in a modern kingdom - with its palaces, pomp and precise manoeuvres at the Changing of the Guard. And there's outrageous London, the urban gathering ground for Cockney pitchmen, "fringe" theatre and the city's youth, with their own distinctive style. Le Havre (Day 2)

The port of Le Havre lies at the mouth of the Seine River that flows to romantic Paris, "City of Lights." Paris features the incredible treasures of the Louvre, the Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower and Sacre Coeur.
Attractions & Activities
Le Havre's prime location between Honfleur and Normandy offers a huge range of options. It's a gateway to the beaches that witnessed the bravery of D-Day and to the coasts and countryside that inspired so many artists. It's also a good place to visit for its art galleries and cafes, and it offers a relaxing alternative to the half-day commute into Paris.

Saint Peter Port (Day 3)

Cobblestone streets, blooming floral displays, and tiny churches welcome you to this wonderfully pretty harbour. The town of St Peter Port is as pretty as they come, with glowing flower displays painting practically every street corner and window-ledge with colour. As the capital, and main port of Guernsey, St Peter Port puts all of the island’s gorgeous beaches, wonderful history and inspiring stories at your fingertips. Feel the gut punch of the midday gun firing at Castle Cornet, which stands guard over one of the world's prettiest ports. This 800-year-old, Medieval castle offers staggering views of the harbour from its imposing, craggy island location, and you can look out across to the looming shorelines of the other Channel Islands from its weathered battlements. With four well-tended gardens, and five museums offering a rich overview of Guernsey's history, you’ll want to leave a few hours aside to explore the many treasures that lie within the castle’s walls.

There is literally a wealth of history at Vigos doorstep -- it is said that Spanish treasures ships lie buried in the bottom of the harbor. Vigo is also gateway for a pilgrimage through history to the Shrine of Santiago de Compostela.

Enjoy some of the most beautiful coastline in the world during a drive along the scenic coastal road to La Toja, a city where you'll experience true Galician culture - rich in historical significance and home to a church that is completely covered in seashells.

Lisbon (Day 6)

Lisbon is a city of great character and endearing charisma. Located in a hilly region at the mouth of the Tagus, the city retains an old world flair with cobbled alleyways in Alfama, the old town. Competing with the elegant avenues of Alto where sorrowful "fado" music fills the evening air is the Chiado, Lisbons affluent shopping district.

Don't miss the Mosteiro dos Jeronimos, or Jeronimo's Monastery. Commissioned in 1501 after Vasco da Gama's return from his voyage, this remarkable monastery is a beautiful and unique example of Manueline architecture.

Porto (Day 7)

Porto is one of the last undiscovered European metropolises,but is increasing in popularity. This is an ancient port steeped in history and tradition. It is a highly atmospheric place that has become known for its monuments by renowned architects (Gustave Eiffel's Dona Maria Bridge, Nicolau Nasoni's Clerigos Tower, Rem Koolhaas' Casa da Musica, or Siza Vieira's Serralves Museum),

Bordeaux (Day 9)

Sixty-one miles up the Garonne River, lies the port of Bordeaux, the capital of France´s wine country. The Romans were the first to introduce grapes into the region, and by the 14th century Bordeaux was producing over one million cases a year. Journey through the hilly countryside to the picturesque village of St Emillion and taste the wines that have made this region famous.

Surrounding Bordeaux are the world-renowned vineyards and wine châteaux. Visitors from all over the globe come here to learn about the wine-making process - from growing the grapes to the harvesting, fermentation and bottling of top-quality wines. The city’s single most important economic activity is centered around the marketing and exporting of the region’s prestigious wines. Many travelers come here for the single purpose of visiting the cellars of esteemed châteaux and sampling the product. However, one has to keep in mind, that the title "château" can mean anything from a palatial residence to a basic winery. There are thousands of wine châteaux scattered through the countryside, ranging from very modest family establishments to celebrated properties – but all are dedicated to producing the area’s renowned wines.

Zeebrugge (Day 11)

Belgium´s medieval port of Zeebrugge leads the way to Bruges, the capital of the Belgian province of West Flanders. As you walk around this city of bridges and canals, you will be captivated by the dignity of the Gothic architecture and the unpretentious display of works of art.
